Of Catholicism and Protestantism.
Particular members of course hold their own particular beliefs, and the different cultures of different countries cause people to listen to their preferred religious doctrines and dogmas to differing degrees. Put differently, even though someone was born into a Catholic family, or a Baptist family, or goes to that church, does not always mean they reflect what it teaches.
Having said that I am interested here in pointing out a major difference between the core nature and advocacy of each of the two branches. What is the core principal program or belief of each? It is simple.
Catholicism advocates socialism and monolithic thought, the importance of the social body. Taking and following orders from the authority of the church bureaucracy. The individual’s dependency upon an institution.
Protestantism advocates individualism and the importance of the individual self vis-a-vis God. Individual thought and acting. Self reliance.
Interestingly, this seems to reveal itself to a fair extent in politics. Catholics seem to tend to be members of and vote with the political party which supports more socialistic societal management and programs. Protestants seem to tend toward the political party which espouses the view that individuals ought to take care of themselves.
