Back at the Crossroads: Socialism or Success, Election 2008

America is a nation unique in the world, and so every election is always the most important. This is so because we are always faced with major issues and problems, not just of ourselves, but of the world. America has always been leading the way and heading toward new developments. While powerful, we view our world role more as protector and shepherd than dictator. We champion the unique self worth of the individual. We are thus a target from forces within and without. Remember, we have a lot of types of people and views within our borders.
We have therefore faced the choice between socialism and capitalism before in our history, and now we face it again.
In this election America faces a directional choice between capitalism or socialism. Free enterprise or government compulsion.
One candidate advocates capitalism. The other invites us into programs achievable only through socialism.
Barrack Obama advocates socialist programs labeled with less repulsive names. Everything he preaches on the campaign trail requires a socialist restructuring of the economy and government to achieve. His surrogate campaigner, his attorney wife, advocates likewise, yet more directly. She speaks in his stead on the campaign trail so that he may be in more places that one. During the week of April 7, 2008 she flatly stated that for some to get what they want others will “have to give up part of their piece the pie.”
Notice she did not say to get what they merit, or what they deserve. In the socialist world, merit does not matter. One becomes entitled simply by being, not by earning or creating.
Mrs. Obama has previously said she is through her husband’s campaign now becoming proud of America. Evidently it offers the possibility that we are at the tipping point and the “socialismizaton” of America is within grasp. Both Barrack and his wife have for decades faithfully attended a bitter Anti-American church under their spiritual leader for decades advocating this. Based on their level of education, the Obamas cannot claim misstatement or ignorance as a defense.
America has been stocking up on socialists for some time now. People who come not for the opportunity, but for the benefits. Not to build but to occupy and enjoy what others have built. Many forces have been at work for some decades to gradually convert America from capitalism to socialism. To expand the social safety nets into socialism and income redistribution.
Morals are fundamental truths and understandings. Laws flow from morals and are details trying to implement certain of those morals. Socialism is immoral. It is founded on jealously and un-importance of self. It tells one to look with envy upon what another has, and draw plans against him to use the force of government to take enough of if to bring the other down to his level. Rather than my creating or producing, I will have government take from my neighbor and give to me that which I would like to have. I might as well just run next door and take it myself and skip the government middleman who puts a smiley-face on the ugly act.
Capitalism is moral. It teaches self-respect, and self-worth. It teaches people to respect one another as equals and deal with one another on merit and mutual agreed worth. We must trade with one another and reach agreement. It requires mutual consent. Compulsion does not teach or set value. Only freedom of choice teaches. It breads creativity. The only reason that foreign countries can sell miracle drugs at a discount is because they acquire them through license. They lacked the creative drive and capital to invent, test and insure them. They only have them because of the capitalist society. Remove the capitalism, and progress will stagnate, and they will have far fewer miracle drugs to sell from abroad at a discount here at home.
I guess today’s socialists think things are at an OK point of development, so it’s OK retard further progress by removing the incentive and context which has driven it (except they don’t even understand that that is where things come from). We’ll just sit here where we presently are and be happy. We’ve got what we need; let’s just work with what we’ve got. I guess they think we have enough infrastructure and medicine and types of products.
Good thing we didn’t stop back when we had only aspirin, and without jets, jet skis, snow mobiles, the interstate, Tylenol®, or a few years ago when we had gotten up to MRIs, CT-scans, the internet, computers, the Hubble telescope, and Viagra.
In the 2008 election, I think America will be making an important choice as to the direction it will head, and whether it will suffer a fool’s errand of horrible costs and destruction, both economic and social.
And from voting patterns, ignorance on many things by many inhabitants, and the absence of curious intelligent inquiry into the basics necessary for a candidate’s positions, it appears that America may have reached the tipping point with enough socialists now on board that in the 2008 election America is going to take a run at socialism.

Our National Family will lose our culture, or morals, and our security if illegal immigration across the US-Mexican Border is not stopped.

To date, all have done little, because each is afraid of offending the other and because the political parties see illegals as either votes or cheap low-end labor.[1]

To date, neither political party has focused on the long term cultural cost, security cost, and risk to respect for our laws and borders.

This poignantly dishonors the many American soldiers who have died over the centuries to establish and protect our borders, and who lie buried here and abroad.  When our politicians allow people to walk all over our borders, it spits in the face of those our nation presently ask to risk their lives defending our nation.

Yet if the political will exists, protecting America by stopping the mass migration across our border is very simple:

The US government should simply enact a law providing a reward to any American reporting a business or person who employs an illegal alien. The free market system would take care of the rest. Sound harsh?

Well, the US Government already gives a percentage to Americans for reporting tax fraud. Is the penetration of our boards by non-citizens more or less serious? Federal, state, and local governments also pay rewards to citizens anonymously reporting crimes.

And fines already exist for hiring illegal aliens, and forms proving non-illegality of each employee are already required to be maintain by employers. The problem is discovering who is hiring them (and thus creating the attraction for them to come here) because many are paid of the books.

The reward could simply be a percentage of the fine and civil penalty recovered, paid to anyone reporting an employer or person who employs an illegal alien. Or it could be a flat-rate payment, to be recouped by the government once the fine is levied. In the end $500 or $1,000 a head would probably be cheaper than police costs.

If there is concern that it would too large a number of cases for the government to handle, I would first point out that that admits the extent and danger of the problem we are confronting, and second that it can be easily solved by establish by law an alternative forum to process them. If there is concern that there are not enough government lawyers to process the cases, designate a fixed a percent of the fine for private lawyers to prosecute and defend.

The demand for illegal workers among employers would disappear overnight, because the economic risk to the business or person illegally employing them would exceed the anticipated gain.

The attraction among some of the people South of the border to come illegally to the US for jobs would disappear overnight because the jobs would dry up overnight.

Not finding work, the illegals already would start to filter back home, turn to crime or go underground until friends or relatives here, got tired of supporting them and they returned home. This could be prevented by also making it a rime, and providing stiff fines, for harboring, housing, or aid and abetting an illegal alien.

Then would come the moment of truth.

If Americans wanted the jobs being performed by illegals, the unemployment rate would drop because they would take those jobs. If the jobs were beneath the desire of unemployed Americans, the jobs would remain unfilled. And if there was a demand for the goods or services created by those unfilled positions, then the market would demand that they be filled.

A law could then provide that people living legally in their countries South of our border who wanted to come work legally within the borders of America, must apply in their own country for a temporary work permit, and thus be properly registered for admission into the US and monitoring after entry. To avoid an abusive stampede, an initial group permanently hold all of the available positions, there should be a quota system, or a time limit on each worker to allow others to come work as well.

The law should provide that marrying or having a child here will not convert them to US citizens. This will keep it an honest work program, not a migration program. Permanent green cards should not be granted.

Under this arrangement, they could come here as proper persons.

We would be protected.

They would be protected.

They would earn more and be abused less.

Congress’ enacting a law like this would put all sides of this argument to the test, including the jobs and economics are argument advanced by the Mexican and other governments South of our border.

________________

[1] It is commonly believed that the Democratic Party likes the votes and doesn’t want to alienate a large slice of their US voting block which has relatives and friends South of the border. And, with motor-voter laws, and drivers licenses being issued to illegals, they perceive it as an avenue to assist their party strength.

It is commonly believed the Republican Party is busy trying to look compassionate, attract legal Hispanic voters, and also tend to go along with business which see the Illegals as a cheap source of low-end labor (without much thought to the long term cost).

Neither is acting in the interest of our National Family.
